This is THE most critical doctrine to cover with the J.W., for it is the gateway to eternal life. The improper understanding of who Jesus is, God, or simply a created angel as the Watchtower teaches, may cause the J.W. to die in their sins and forfeit eternal life!

Anti-Nicene Fathers
Now there are many who are sincerely concerned about religion, and who fall here into great perplexity.  They are afraid that they may be proclaiming two Gods, and their fear drives them into doctrines which are false and wicked….they deny the divinity of the Son, giving Him a separate existence of His own, and making His sphere of essence fall outside that of the Father, so that they are separable from each other. (Origen 250 A.D. Commentary on the Gospel of John 2:2)
"He [is] God, Son of the only, unbegotten, unutterable God.” (Justin Martyr 165 A.D. Dialogue with Trypho, Chapter 62)
Christ [is] Lord, and God the Son of God  (Justin Martyr 165 A.D. Dialogue with Trypho, Chapter 128)
"For the Spirit designates both [of them] by the name, of God - both Him who is anointed as Son, and Him who does anoint, that is, the Father." (Irenaeus 200 A.D. Against Heresies 3:6:1-2,4;8:1-9:1;15:3)
"God in the form of man, stainless, the minister of His Father's will, the Word who is God, who is in the Father, who is at the Father's right hand, and with the form of God is God.”  (Clement of Alexandria 215 A.D. The Instructor, Book 1, Chapter 2)
“…All are of One, by unity (that is) of substance; while the mystery of the dispensation is still guarded, which distributes the Unity into a Trinity, placing in their order the three Persons - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost:  three, however, not in condition, but in degree; not in substance, but in form; not in power, but in aspect; yet of one substance, and of one condition, and of one power, inasmuch as He is one God, from whom these degrees and forms and aspects are reckoned, under the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” (Tertullian 230 A.D. Against Praxeus, Chapter 2)
".. and Christ Jesus the Son of God, who, being God, became man"  (HIPPOLYTUS 235 A.D. Against the Heresy of One Noetus, Section 8)
For he who comes down in faith to the laver of regeneration, and renounces the devil, and joins himself to Christ; who denies the enemy, and makes the confession that Christ is God; who puts off the bondage, and puts on the  adoption - he comes up from the baptism brilliant as the sun, flashing forth the beams of righteousness, and, which is indeed the chief thing, he returns a son of God and joint-heir with Christ.  (HIPPOLYTUS 235 A.D. Discourse on the Holy Theophany, Section 10)

Introduction to this study

Jesus made some very pointed statements about himself in these verses:

John 5:39-40   “Search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life and they are they which testify of me And you will not come to Me, that you might have life”.

John 8:24       I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

John 10:9       I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

JW's deny that Jesus is God.  They teach that Jesus is Michael the Archangel, and that He was created. I will begin this study with some of the clearest possible verses of scripture that declare that Jesus IS God! For each of these verses, the Watchtower has spent endless hours of research, trying to disprove, change and manipulate them to reduce the person of Christ to a mere created being!

Isaiah 9:6       For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Matthew 1:23     Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

John 1:1       In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:18    No one has ever seen God, but God the only Son, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known  (NIV)

John 5:18     Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

John 10:33     The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

John 20:28       And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

Acts 20:28   ... the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with his own blood.

Romans 9:5 (NIV)    Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of Christ, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.

2Co 5:19    To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Hebrews 1:8, 10       But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom....  And, Thou, Lord (Jehovah), in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:

Philip. 2:6-7       Who, being in the form of God, .... took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

1 Tim. 3:16        And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh

Titus 3:4     But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

Titus 1:3-4        ......according to the commandment of God our Saviour; To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

Titus 2:10       .......that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

Titus 3:6       Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

Titus 2:13    "expecting the blessed hope and appearance of the glory of the great God and Savior of us Jesus Christ.”

Col. 2:9        For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead (deity) bodily.

2 Peter 1:1 (NIV)   Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours:

1 John 5:20     And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

There are two ways you can approach the scriptures! One approach is to formulate a preconceived idea and then study the scriptures with the intent of proving your idea, even if this means making alterations and changes to the scriptures to make it work which you will see in this study. The second approach is to read the scriptures, as they are written, and attempt to find the truth based on what is written as fundamental Christians do! As we read this study, you will see how often the Watchtower has made attempts to add, remove and change words to reconstruct the scriptures to meet their preconceived image of the person Jesus Christ. You will also see how they translate one word to have different meanings so that a single word, when applied to Jesus, has a different meaning than when the same word is applied to Jehovah God. Thus, they have created their own version of God according to their own image of what God should be!

The J.W. approach is predicated upon the concept that Jesus was created and furthermore, that he was Michael the Archangel prior to coming in the flesh and therefore He cannot be God! Thus, when the word “God” is applied to the Son, they must find a way to reduce it to a “lesser” God. While they claim to be monotheistic, they are unwittingly forced to create a polytheistic doctrine (belief in more than one God) by creating a second god, a “lesser god” in Jesus Christ. They have found ways to do this with some scriptures such as John 1:1 (“a” god), and when the term “Mighty God” is applied to Jesus in Isa. 9:6, they take note that it does not use the term “Almighty God”! So that makes one God, "Almighty", and the other God, just "Mighty God"! The one scripture they cannot contend with for their defamation of Jesus, is John 20:28 when Thomas called Jesus “My Lord and My God” which they attempt to disqualify with deceptive methods which I shall disprove latter in this study. These attempts by the Watchtower, all fly in the face of these scriptures that deny that such a "secondary" or "lesser" god concept can ever exist:

Deut. 32:39     See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

Isaiah 43:10-12      Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. [11] I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour. [12] I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God.

Isaiah 45:5      I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:

Isaiah 45:21-23   ..... have not I the Lord? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. [22] Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. [23] ..... That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

1 Cor. 8:4      '... that there is none other God but one. '

Each of these scriptures above, are discredited and nullified by the J.W. "lesser" god theory! Either Jesus is "The" same God with the Father, or he is no god at all! You cannot have a "lesser, secondary" god!

The second approach, as fundamental Christianity has preached since the days of Christ, sees the scriptures as they are written and clearly identify that Jesus is "The" God, equal to God the Father, both being ONE God but yet as God the Son He is submitted to God the Father! Although they are two persons, they are, nevertheless one God!

John 10:30       I and my Father are one.

1 John 5:7       For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

John 5:18     Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

 FIRSTBORN

"For when he says, `That which was from the beginning,' he touches upon the generation without beginning of the Son, who is co-existent with the Father.  There was; then, a Word importing an unbeginning eternity; as also the Word itself, that is, the Son of God, who being, by equality of substance, one with the Father, is eternal and uncreated….`And we show unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto you.'  He signifies by the appellation of Father, that the Son also existed always, without beginning.”  (Clement of Alexandria 215 A.D. Fragment, Comments on the First Epistle of John)

And that it is from that region which is towards the south of the inheritance of Judah that the Son of God shall come, who is God, and who was from Bethlehem, where the Lord was born [and] will send out His praise through all the earth, thus says the prophet Habakkuk:  `God shall come from the south, and the Holy One from Mount, Effrem.  His power covered the heavens over, and the earth is full of His praise.  Before His face shall go forth the Word, and His feet shall advance in the plains.'  Thus he indicates in clear terms that He is God, and that His advent was [to take place] in Bethlehem, and from Mount Effrem, which is towards the south of the inheritance, and that [He is] man.  For he says, `His feet shall advance in the plains,' and this is an indication proper to man.   God, then, was made man, and the Lord did Himself save us, giving us the token of the Virgin. (Irenaeus 200 A.D. Against Heresies 3:20:4)

Did Jesus have a beginning?

Not according to Micah 5:2

But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting (Owlam).

This is the scripture that pointed to the place, Bethlehem as the birth place of Christ. The interesting note is the word "everlasting" which in Hebrew is "Owlam!"

The Hebrew word “owlam” means "eternity everlasting, eternal, always. It is the exact same word that defines Jehovah God in the following verse!

Genesis 21:33       And Abraham planted a grove in Beer-sheba, and called there on the name of the Lord (Jehovah), the everlasting (Owlam) God.

We understand that Jehovah God has existed from eternity past! But the really interesting scripture is the one in Micah 5:2, where the same exact word is used to define Jesus Christ, that he has existed from "eternity past!" By using the same word for the pre-existance of both Jehovah God, and Jesus, the Jewish prophets have declared the child who would be born in Bethlehem, whom Isaiah declared would be Jehovah God himself in a human body (Isa. 9:6), has pre-existed for all eternity past without a beginning!

The ONLY way out of this predicament by the Watchtower, is to allocate a different meaning for the word "Owlam" so that it means one thing for Jehovah God, and has a separate value of meaning for Jesus Christ, as they have done with the words "Lord - Jehovah", and "worship - obeisance" explained later in this study!

One of the scriptures that the Watchtower uses to doctrinally declare that Jesus had a point of origin, or a beginning of life, is Col. 1:15-18

Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: [16] For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: [17] And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. [18] And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

One of the first problems they must encounter if they wish to be fair with God's word, is the fact that this scripture has nothing to do with the "birth" of Jesus, but rather, it deals with his resurrection from the dead! If you will note verse 18 says He is "the firstborn from the DEAD that in all things He may have the preeminence"

proteuo, prote-yoo'-o; from Greek 4413 (protos); to be first (in rank or influence) :- have the preeminence.

The word "preeminence" means first in rank or influence  and expresses his authority!

"Firstborn" - Hebrew "Protokos” Vines Expository Dictionary defines it as "In relationship to the Father expressing His priority to, and preeminence over creation, NOT IN THE SENSE of BEING THE "FIRST" TO BE BORN."

To illustrate this, let me show you some other scriptures that show that the term “Firstborn” can mean “rank or influence” and NOT “the first to be born!”

Esau and Jacob (Israel)

Genesis 25:25-26       And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau. [26] And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob: ....

Exodus 4:22      .... Thus saith the Lord, Israel (Jacob) is my son, even my firstborn:   (Gen 32:28)

Although Esau was the firstborn, Jacob received the honor of preeminence as "Firstborn!"

Manasseh and Ephraim

Genesis 48:14       And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the firstborn.

Jeremiah 31:9       .... for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.

Although Manasseh was the firstborn, Ephraim, the younger child, was given the preeminence as "Firstborn!"

Beginning of the Creation of God

Another scripture that trips up the Watchtower followers (although I trust that the Watchtower itself KNOWS they are deceiving their followers) is the verse shown here:

Rev. 3:14      And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning (arche) of the creation of God;

G746     arche    ar-khay'
From G756; (properly abstract) a commencement, or (concrete) chief (in various applications of order, time, place or rank): - beginning, corner, (at the, the) first (estate), magistrate, power, principality, principle, rule. (Strong's Concordance)

The same word is found in Luke 12:11 where the NWT translates the same word "arche" as "government officials"  and the KJV translates as "magistrates."

Luke 12:11      And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates (arche), and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:

If you did not notice, the same word appeared in Col. 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning (arche - ruler, chief), the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence (first in rank or influence)

Here are some other translations of Rev. 3:14 showing the "authority" or "rank" of Jesus, not his "birth":

(YLT)  `And to the messenger of the assembly of the Laodiceans write: These things saith the Amen, the witness--the faithful and true--the chief of the creation of God;

(WEB)  "To the angel of the assembly in Laodicea write: "The Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Head of God's creation, says these things:

In the 2 scriptures that the Watchtower uses to claim that Jesus had a "beginning" of life, an origin where God created Him, we find, contrary to their doctrine, that these 2 scriptures actually declare His "authority" and "preeminence" over all creation. Neither scripture has anything at all to do with the "beginning or creation" of Jesus which is already defined in Micah 5:2
whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting (Owlam) "eternity past"

Another scripture they use to claim that Jesus was created is Proverbs chapter 8. Click here to review my study on "Wisdom!" Before going there, I think it to be helpful to read the next item first "Pre-existence as God!"

 Pre-existence as God

For as the only begotten Word of God, being God of God, emptied Himself, according to the Scriptures, humbling Himself of His own will to that which He was not before, and took unto Himself this vile flesh, and appeared in the `form of a servant,' and `became obedient to God the Father, even unto death,' so hereafter He is said to be `highly exalted;' and as if well-nigh He had it not by reason of His humanity, and as if it were in the way of grace, He `receives the name which is above every name,' according to the word of the blessed Paul.  But the matter, in truth, was not a `giving,' as for the first time, of what He had not by nature; far otherwise.  But rather we must understand a return and restoration to that which existed in Him at the beginning, essentially and inseparably.  And it is for this reason that, when He had assumed, by divine arrangement, the lowly estate of humanity, He said, `Father, glorify me with the glory which I had,' etc.  For He who was co-existent with His Father before all time, and before the foundation of the world, always had the glory proper to Godhead.”  (HIPPOLYTUS 235 A.D. On Genesis, Gen 49:21-26)

The "BTD" in the NWT says Jesus was "exalted higher than prehuman existence." Ref. is made to Phil. 2:9-10.

[9] Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: [10] That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The Watchtower is quick to show the exaltation of Jesus Christ pointing to verses 9-10 as though it was the first time that Jesus had been exalted, rather than a restoration of his high position he once had, as confirmed by the Anti-Nicene Father Hippolytus above.

John 17:5        And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

The watchtower is careful to fail to show the previous verses that speak first of the humiliation of Christ FROM being God to becoming a man. In verses 6-8, the scripture says that, although He was previously existing in the nature of God, He chose to lower Himself and became a man,

Phi 2:6-8  Although from the beginning He had the nature of God He did not reckon His equality with God a treasure to be tightly grasped. Nay, He stripped Himself of His glory, and took on Him the nature of a bondservant by becoming a man like other men. And being recognized as truly human, He humbled Himself and even stooped to die; yes, to die on a cross.  (WNT)

Because He was obedient even to death, "God has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name. (The interlinear will prove the Watchtower added the non-existant word "other" --- "every other name" (NWT)). The scripture continues to say that at the name of Jesus Christ, every knee will bow in worship in heaven, on the earth and in hell below, and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord (Meaning Jehovah - Kurios)!

[10] That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The Greek word for "form" in verse 6 is "morphe" meaning "nature!"
"form" - morphe, mor-fay'; Greek 3444 perhaps from the base of Greek 3313 (meros) (through the idea of adjustment of parts); shape; figurative nature :- form. (Strong's Concordance)

This text, contrary to the J.W. "Michael the Archangel" theory, says that Jesus pre-existed in the "nature and form" of God, NOT the nature of an angel which the Watchtower teaches. The following versions help to make sense out of the wording of this text helping to explain what it is saying. I will first quote the verse as the Watchtower has it. Please note that the verse, even in their Bible, clearly shows that Jesus pre-existed in the form of God! The rest of the verse is written as a tongue twister to confuse the reader!

(NWT)  who, although he was existing in God's form, gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal with God

The word "seizure", or what the KJV translated as "robbery" is:

Greek 725   harpagmos
Thayer Definition:
1) the act of seizing, robbery
2) a thing seized or to be seized
2a) booty to deem anything a prize
2b) a thing to be seized upon or to be held fast, retained

This scripture, although it clearly speaks of the diety of Christ, is very confusing to the mind of the J.W. It says that Jesus, although he was pre-existing in the form or nature of God, did not consider his equality with God, something that he must retain, or cling to!

Here are some other translations of this verse which will help to bring to light the intent of Apostle Paul:

Phil. 2:6
(ALT)  who existing in the nature of God, did not consider being equal to God something to be held onto,
(GNB)  He always had the nature of God, but he did not think that by force he should try to remain equal with God.
(WNT)  Although from the beginning He had the nature of God He did not reckon His equality with God a treasure to be tightly grasped.

Verse 7 says " But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:  (KJV)   The word "no reputation" is the Greek word "kenoo" which means "to make empty!"

Phil. 2:7
(ASV)  but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men;
(GNB)  Instead of this, of his own free will he gave up all he had, and took the nature of a servant. He became like a human being and appeared in human likeness.
(WNT)  Nay, He stripped Himself of His glory, and took on Him the nature of a bondservant by becoming a man like other men.

Even the NWT notes the fact that He emptied himself   (NWT) No, but he emptied himself and took a slave's form and came to be in the likeness of men.

The depth of this passage of scripture is fantastic! It declares that, although Jesus existed in the nature of God, He did something that we could hardly imagine! He did not treasure His form of being equal with God (the Father) something that He must hold onto and keep! He chose to lay aside his high position of being in the form of God, "He emptied himself", "gave up all he had", "He stripped Himself of His glory"  and took on the humble form of man, like us, dwelling in a human body of Flesh!  Living in the flesh, He now possessed our weaknesses, He was tempted as we are but resisted all temptations even to the point of death! He perfectly obeyed the Father! Therefore, His dead body was raised from the tomb without being corrupted by decay, and in His flesh, in a human body, the Father, has glorified Him, given Him the name that is above every name, seated Him at His right hand and ordered ALL of creation to bow down and worship Him! It is the human flesh of Jesus Christ that makes the exaltation so amazing! Jesus, God the creator of all things who chose to become one of his creations, a man, is now glorified and exalted by the Father, and given all authority and dominion of which the Father alone is exempt! (1 Cor. 15:27) NOW, as a man, in the Flesh, the Father restored Jesus to the full position, power, authority and glory that he had prior to becoming a man! This MAN, Christ Jesus in a body of Flesh, is God, the creator of all things!

John 1:3     All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

John 20:28     And Thomas answered and said unto him (Jesus), My Lord and my God.

1 Tim. 3:16       And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Matthew 28:18     And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

John 17:5        And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

Prophetically fortold in Dan. 7:9-14

(The Watchtower denies the bodily- fleshly resurrection of Jesus Christ, but that would entail another entire study of argument, although I will sum it up with the fact that it was the blood of Jesus that was left on the earth, not his flesh. His flesh and bones were raised from the dead  (Luke 24:39) Their denial of His bodily resurrection is a complete denial of the entire gospel message summarized by Paul in 1 Cor. chapter 15)

Philip. 2:6-10   (KJV) Who, being in the form (nature) of God, thought it not robbery (something to seize, keep or retain) to be equal with God: [7] But made himself of no reputation (emptied himself), and took upon him the form (nature) of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: [8] And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

This is a fulfillment of the scripture:

Isaiah 45:21-23    Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the Lord? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. [22] Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. [23] I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

I have never met a J.W. that will obey the command of God the Father noted in Phil. 2:10-11 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

 WORSHIP

We worship one God, the Father and the Son, therefore, as we have explained; and our argument against the worship of other gods still continues valid.  And we do not `reverence beyond measure one who has but lately appeared,' as though He did not exist before; for we believe Himself when He says, `Before Abraham was, I am.'  Again He says, `I am the truth;' and surely none of us is so simple as to suppose that truth did not exist before the time when Christ appeared.  We worship, therefore, the Father of truth, and the Son, who is the truth; and these, while they are two, considered as persons or subsistences, are one in unity     (Origen 250 A.D.  Against Celsus 8:12)

The Watchtower has disobediently refused to worship Jesus as commanded by the Father, and since the scriptures showed Jesus being worshipped by men and angels, they had to find a way to change the meaning of these scriptures to hold to their error of lowering Jesus to be a created being which is not to be worshipped!

Rev. 22:8-9     And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. [9] Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.

Each time someone fell down to worship an angel, the angel rebuked the person instructing them not to worship them! But each of the 13 times someone fell down to worship Jesus, He received the worship and never once rebuked the worshipper instructing them not to worship Him! Certainly, if Jesus was Michael the archangel, he would have refused the worship he received from men as the angel in the verse above did!

The word "worship," in Greek, is the word "Proskuneo". This word is used in every occurrence of scripture that spoke of Worshipping God! This is the exact same word used in Matt. 2:2,11;   8:2;  9:18;  14:33;  15:25;  20:20;  28:9,17;  Mark 5:6;   Luke 24:52 and John 9:38 where people "Worshipped" Jesus and Heb. 1:6 where the angels are ordered to worship Jesus. But the NWT translates Proskuneo to mean "Obeisance" instead of "worship" only when applied to Jesus!

Even as the Watchtower has defined the word "Kurios - which is defined as both Jehovah and Lord" to mean Jehovah only when applied to God, and then defines the same word to mean "Lord" when applied to Jesus, they have also given the word "proskuneo" two separate values of interpretation to fit their heresy and keep their followers in darkness!

The word "Proskuneo" in the NWT is always defined as "worship" when it is applied to God. But when the same word is applied to Jesus, they choose to translate it as "obeisance." I will not debate the fact that obeisance and worship both mean the same thing, but I will point to the intent of the Watchtower, which any J.W. can vouch for, and that is that their purpose is to demonstrate that when the people in scripture "did obeisance" to Jesus, it is a lesser form of worship than the worship that is given to God! I'm not sure HOW you give a lesser form of worship to their "lesser" god, but that is their desired understanding!

If this was the intent of the Apostles who wrote the N.T. scriptures, they would have used a different word than "proskuneo!" The truth is, the Watchtower has dishonored the N.T. writers by giving one word separate values of interpretation, with the horrific goal of denying the Son of God the worship that is rightfully owed to Him and that is commanded to be given to Him by the heavenly Father!  The Watchtower, knowing the truth but hiding it from their followers, will one day answer to God for their rebellion against His Son and the Worship the Father has ordered us to give Him!

You will note here, the full definition of the word "worship" in both the Greek and the Hebrew language.

Greek    "proskuneo"   G4352   pros-koo-neh'-o  From G4314 and probably a derivative of G2965 (meaning to kiss, like a dog licking his master's hand); to fawn or crouch to, that is, (literally or figuratively) prostrate oneself in homage (do reverence to, adore): - worship.

Hebrew  "shachah" H 7812  shaw-khaw';  a primitive root; to depress, i.e. prostrate (especially reflexive in homage to royalty or God) :- bow (self) down, crouch, fall down (flat), humbly beseech, do (make) obeisance, do reverence, make to stoop, worship. (ref. Strong's Greek and Hebrew Dictionary)

In both languages, the definition of "worship", literally, means, to "bow down" or "prostrate oneself" before someone. Not only is the same word "Proskuneo" used to define the worship of both God and Jesus in the Greek scriptures, but the scripture in Philippians actually defines, in full the definition of the term "worship!"

Philip. 2:10-11         That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Jehovah), to the glory of God the Father.

(You will note in the next subject below, that the word "Lord" in the verse above, is the Greek word for "Jehovah!")

Full worship of the Son is ordered by the Father! Here lies the focus of the one thing every J.W. refuses to do, bow their knee in worship to the Son of God and confess Him as Jehovah! The wrath of God is kindled against the Watchtower and its followers (Ps. 2:12)!

Psalm 2:12  "Kiss the Son lest He be angry. and you perish in the way when His wrath is kindled but a little.”

The Old Testament Hebrew word for "Kiss" is "nashak” means to "Kiss the ground,  prostrate yourselves in submission". "Affectionate union of the hearts." (ref. "Wilson's O.T. word studies" & "The Companion Bible")

 LORD - "Kurios"

As the J.W. camp redefines the word "proskuneo" to mean "worship" when applied to God, and "Obeisance" when applied to Jesus, they have done the same manipulation of scripture when they define the word "Kurios"!

In every scripture in the Greek New Testament where the NWT translated the name of "Jehovah", you will find that it is the EXACT same word that applies to Jesus in EVERY case where Jesus is called "Lord"!

So then, whenever the Greek scripture writes  "Kurios Theos", they translate Kurios as "Jehovah God" i.e. Luke 1:32

(NWT)  This one will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and Jehovah (Kurios) God will give him the throne of David his father,

Yet, whenever the Greek text writes "Kurios Iesous", they translate Kurios as "Lord Jesus"  Here, in Acts 7:59-60, while Stephen is praying to Jesus, they change the same word to give two different meanings, all in the same breath of the martyr as he was being stoned!

(NWT)   And they went on casting stones at Stephen as he made an appeal and said: "Lord (Kurios) Jesus, receive my spirit. [60] Then, bending his knees, he cried out with a strong voice: "Jehovah (Kurios), do not charge this sin against them."...

To the error of the watchtower translators, Stephen was speaking TO Jesus when he continued his prayer saying "...Jehovah (Kurios), do not charge this sin against them.".

Same Greek word, but a different meaning! As you and I both know, the J.W.'s deny that Jesus is Jehovah, making them into two seperate Gods! A correct translation of scriptures reveals their error! Even when an Old Testament scripture was clearly addressed to Jehovah God, and then the same scripture is applied to Jesus in the N.T., they have changed it to remove the idea that it is linked to Jehovah God! Instead of allowing the scriptures to identify Jesus as Jehovah God which was the obvious intent of the New Testament writers, they have made Jehovah and Jesus into two seperate persons! Psalms 102 applies to Jehovah God in the NWT, and in Hebrews 1:10, where the same Old Testament verse is quoted but is clearly speaking about Jesus, the one being addressed changes from Jehovah to Lord, hiding the fact that the same scripture is speaking about Jesus although the Old Testament called him "Jehovah"!

Psalms 102:1, 25  (NWT)    "O Jehovah, do hear my prayer.... Long ago you laid the foundations of the earth itself, and the heavens are the work of your hands.

Hebrews 1:8, 10 (NWT)  But unto the Son he saith  ... And: "You at [the] beginning, O Lord ( should be translated Jehovah), laid the foundations of the earth itself, and the heavens are [the] work of your hands.

The word "O Lord" here should be translated "O Jehovah" if they wish to remain consistant with their interpretation!
This whole subject becomes very critical when you consider that the J.W.'s CANNOT do the very thing that is required to be saved!

Romans 10:9       That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord (Jehovah) Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

The same error of interpretation applies to Romans 10:9-13 where the same word "Kurios" is defined as "Lord" in verse 9 when it is speaking of Jesus, but then changes to "Jehovah" in verse 13. Any reader can see that verses 9 through 13 are  speaking about Jesus! I will cover this more later!

Philip. 2:11      And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Jehovah), to the glory of God the Father.

You would have to be totally blind not to see the obvious attempts of the Watchtower to remove the honor that is rightfully due to Jesus Christ by way of manipulation and deceit! For more study on this topic go to Jehovah

 Michael the Archangel

"But He is not on this account to be regarded as an angel, as a Gabriel or a Michael….He…is verily God, and the Son of God[.]”  ... Hear what Isaiah says in emphatic words, `It was no angel, nor deputy, but the Lord Himself who saved them.'”  (Tertullian 230 A.D. On the Flesh of Christ, Chapter 14)

It was not angels, therefore, who made us, nor who formed us, neither had angels power to make an image of God, nor any one else, except the Word of the Lord, nor any Power remotely distant from the Father of all things.  For God did not stand in need of these [beings], in order to the accomplishing of what He had Himself determined with Himself beforehand should be done, as if He did not possess His own hands.  For with Him were always present the Word and Wisdom, the Son and the Spirit, by whom and in whom, freely and spontaneously, He made all things, to whom also He speaks, saying, `Let Us make man after Our image and likeness….'”  (Irenaeus 200 A.D. Against Heresies 4:20:1)

The 2 scriptures that the Watchtower leans on to claim that Jesus is Michael the Archangel, are 1 Thess 4:16 and Jude 1:9. But both of them are refuted by further study! I will begin with the scriptures that deny that Jesus was ever an angel, but contrariwise, was in the form of God!

Heb 1:5-6   For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.

Heb 1:8, 10   But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.   And, Thou, Lord (Kurios - Jehovah), in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:

Hebrews 1:13   But to which of the angels said he at any times, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?

In his pre-existence, before he became a man, Jesus was in the form of God, not an angel!

Philip. 2:6-7       Who, being in the form (Nature) of God, thought it not robbery (something to seize, keep or retain) to be equal with God: [7] But made himself of no reputation (emptied himself), and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

I will now deal with the two scriptures the J.W.'s use to declare that Jesus was Michael the Archangel!

1 Thes. 4:16       For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

The error with using this verse, is that it does NOT say that Jesus IS the Archangel anymore than it says that Jesus is the "trump of God"! But to clearly show that this idea is in error, lets look at:

Rev. 14:14-16
And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. [15] And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. [16] And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.

There are two persons spoken about in this verse which is a clear reference to the verse in 1 Thess 4:16. Here in Rev. 14, Jesus is the one who sat upon the cloud ready to rapture the saints at the harvest as spoken of in 1 Thess. 4. The archangel is the "angel came out of the temple" (3 other angels came out making announcements in verses 6-9) and he cries out "..with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud" to reap the harvest. Please note that this 4th angel cries out TO someone, and that someone is Jesus! It is very clear that the archangel spoken of in 1 Thess 4:16, is the 4th angel and not Jesus Christ himself!

Jude 1:9      Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord (Kurios) rebuke thee.

Jesus did not have to implore upon any name to rebuke the devil! He simply commanded them to "Go", and they left (Matt. 8:32)! The error of the Watchtower is evident when you consider the fact that Michael had to implore the name of the "Lord" when he rebuked the devil! The question is, "who is the Lord?" The NWT uses the word "Jehovah" instead of "Lord" in this verse! But we must be reminded again that the Greek word is "Kurios" which is always the word that identifies Jesus as "Lord - Kurios"! It's interesting that all we need to do, is go back to the former verse we just spoke about which the Watchtower leans on to make Jesus "the voice of the archangel"! They know the one who decends "from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel" is Jesus! But they don't know that the name that Michael used to rebuke the devil  "The Lord (Kurios - Jehovah) rebuke thee" is the same name used for the one who will descend from heaven!

1 Thes. 4:16       For the Lord (Kurios - Jehovah) himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Michael had NO power or authority over devils! Michael had to implore the name of the "Lord - Kurios" to rebuke the devil! Yet, Jesus is the one who is called by this name (Lord - Kurios - Jehovah) and clearly HAS authority and power over devils. By His name, the disciples have authority and power over devils!

Mar 16:17  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name (Jesus) shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

Luke 9:1     Then he (Jesus) called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.

Luke 10:17  And the seventy returned again with joy, saying (to Jesus), Lord (Kurios), even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.

Act 16:18  And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

The truth is, that Michael the archangel, had no authority except to implore upon the name of Jehovah (Kurios) which is the same name used for the Lord (Kurios) Jesus Christ when he rebuked the devil!

For a deeper study on this topic, I have a web page that refutes the SDA teaching that Jesus is Michael the Archangel

" I AM"

"Who is meant by God?  He of whom He has said, "God shall come openly, our God, and shall not keep silence;' that is, the Son, who came manifested to men who said, `I have openly appeared to those who seek Me not.'  But of what gods [does he speak]?  [Of those] to whom He says, `I have said, Ye are gods, and all sons of the Most High.'  To those, no doubt, who have received the grace of the `adoption, by which we cry, Abba Father.'  Wherefore, as I have already stated, no other is named as God, or is called Lord, except Him who is God and Lord of all, who also said to Moses, `I AM That I AM ... And again, when the Son speaks to Moses, He says, `I am come down to deliver this people" (Irenaeus 200 A.D. Against Heresies 3:6:1-2,4;8:1-9:1;15:3)

John 8:24       I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I AM he, ye shall die in your sins.

John 8:56, 58-59     Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. ...  Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM.  Then took they up stones to cast at him…

No doubt, Jesus was speaking about the following verses when He said that Abraham "rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad"...

Genesis 22:8, 14     And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together...     And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.

The Jews took up stones to kill Jesus when He claimed that HE is God, the "I AM" that appeared to Moses and Jehovah-jireh that appeared to Abraham who promised to provide himself a Lamb! If Jehovah was claiming that He himself would be the Lamb that will save the World, His words would be in perfect agreement with the following verses  "I, even I, am the Lord Jehovah; and beside me there is no saviour" (Isa. 43:11) AND "a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. [22] Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth" (Isa. 45:21-22)

Exodus 3:14       And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

The two Jewish Bibles that I have in my possession  “The Pentateuch and Haftorahs” edited by Rabbi Dr. J. H. Hertz, London Soncino Press as well as The Holy Scriptures (Old Testament) by the Jewish Publication Society (1917)  renders Exodus 3:14 in agreement with the KJV as “I AM THAT I AM!” Additionally, I have the Septuagint, which renders it as "I AM THE BEING!"  No doubt the Watchtower is able to find a Jewish version somewhere that is in agreement with their translation, but the fact remains clear, that the words "I AM" were recognized by the Jewish community as the name of God, and the Jews in the days of Jesus, knew exactly what He was claiming when He spoke these words which incited them to attempt to stone him to death!

The NWT tactfully changed the words of both scriptures so that there seems to be NO connection in their Bible that Jesus was addressing himself to be the same God who appeared to Moses!

(John 8:58 NWT)  Jesus said to them: "Most truly I say to YOU, Before Abraham came into existence, I have been"

(Ex. 3:14 NWT)   At this God said to Moses: I SHALL PROVE TO BE WHAT I SHALL PROVE TO BE. And he added: "This is what you shall say to the sons of Israel, "I SHALL PROVE TO BE has sent me to YOU."

Yet there is a clear link between the words by which God identified himself to Moses and the words Jesus spoke to say that he is the same God that appeared to Moses! The definition of both Hebrew and Greek words here mean I EXIST!

hayah,  haw-yaw'; Hebrew 1961 a primitive root [compare Hebrew 1933 (hava')]; to exist, i.e. be or become, come to pass

eimi,  i-mee'; Greek 1510  first person singular presumed indicative; a prolonged form of a primary and defective verb; I exist (used only when emphatic) :- am, have been, × it is I, was

It may be appropriate to say, that Jehovah God who spoke in Exodus 3:14 was pointing to Jesus, and that Jesus in John 8:58 was pointing to Jehovah God when these words were spoken. God was saying, “I will be that savior who will come”, and “I was the God who appeared to Abraham in Mamre (Gen 18:1, 22), and Moses in the burning bush”! Both scriptures imply that both Jehovah God, and Jesus, claim to be ever existent, past, present and future, encompassing all time!

The term "I am" or "I EXIST" equates with  "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty."  Rev. 1:8 and again   "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." Hebrews 13:8

Whereas the Watchtower has rendered the words “ego eimi” - “I am” in the “perfect indefinite tense”, my investigation of “ego eimi” in John 8:58 shows it to be in the “present tense" (not "perfect indefinite tense" as they claim), it is the “indicative” mode and “active” voice.  (Source: The Greek New Testament, 4th revised, corrected edition, 1994, edited by Barbara Aland, Kurt Aland, Johannes Karavidopoulos, Carlo M. Martini, and Bruce M. Metzger in cooperation with the Institute for the New testament Textual Research. Morphological Tags from the Analytical Greek New testament, version 2 by Timothy and Barbara Friberg)

It is exactly the same Mode, tense and voice as the same word “ego eimi” - "I am" in John 6:48, 8:12, 8:18, 8:24, 10:7, and 18:6. Even as the NWT is NOT consistent with the definition of the word Kurios - Jehovah (Lord) and Proskuneo - worship (obeisance),  if you will review John 6:48, 8:12, 8:18, 8:24,10:7 and 18:6 you will find that the NWT renders "ego eimi" as “I am” in every single occurrence except John 8:58!

John 6:48       I am that bread of life.

John 8:12       Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

John 8:18        I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.

John 8:24       I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

John 10:7         Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.

John 18:6        As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.

The important comparison is between John 8:24, and 8:58. Whereas Jesus claimed to be "I AM" in 8:58, He first declared in verse 24 that "if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins!" When he was pressed to explain what he meant by "if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins", he concludes with the statement "Before Abraham was, I AM!"
What do you think made them so angry they wanted to stone Him? THEN, Jesus really throws a hard one at them  "I and my Father are one." (John 10:30)  This word drew the following action from the Jews:   The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. (John 10:33) They knew exactly what Jesus was saying in 8:58! Jesus WAS, in fact, claiming to be God! Its the J.W. group that simply cannot see it! But Thomas finally saw it, and declared "My Lord and My God!" (John 20:28) which concludes what was written in the beginning of John's Gospel, "and the Word was God!"

When the words remain consistent in translation, the impact of the words hold a much greater value!
The impact of the words “Ego eimi - I AM” was so powerful that when Jesus spoke those words the soldiers fell down backward (18:6). Any of you have an explanation for this? Nevertheless, the NWT has translated these words as "I AM" in every verse except John 8:58 for the express purpose of removing it from being identified with the name by which God revealed Himself to Moses in Ex. 3:14!

Deut. 32:39     See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

John 10:28  And I (Jesus) give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Matthew 1:21     And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Matthew 1:23     Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, (the) God with us. (ho Theos)

Isaiah 12:2    Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation (Yeshuwah - "salvation" - the Hebrew name of Jesus).

Psalm 118:14     The Lord (Jehovah) is my strength and song, and is become my salvation  (Yeshuwah - the Hebrew name of Jesus).

The Hebrew name Jesus, Yeshuah (meaning "Salvation") appears 65 times in the Old Testament. Jehovah became Jesus! Unless you believe that Jesus IS Jehovah (I AM) you will die in your sins!

 SAVIOR

And that you may understand that the omnipotence of Father and Son is one and the same, as God and the Lord are one and the same with the Father, listen to the manner in which John speaks in the Apocalypse:  `Thus saith the Lord God, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.'  For who else was `He which is to come' than Christ?  And as no one ought to be offended, seeing God is the Father, that the Saviour is also God; so also, since the Father is called omnipotent, no one ought to be offended that the Son of God is also called omnipotent.”  (Origen 250 A.D. De Principiis 1:2:10)

Isa.. 43:11 "I am Jehovah, and besides ME There is  NO SAVIOR.”

Isaiah 43:10-12     Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. [11] I, even I, am the Lord (Jehovah); and beside me there is no saviour. [12] I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God.

This scripture makes 4 very damaging statements against the JW doctrine.

1.        The Targum (A translation or paraphrase of the sacred Scriptures by the Jews in the Chaldee language or dialect) actually reads "and my servant the Messiah, in whom I am well pleased;'' (Gill) Thus, God is claiming that he himself, will be the Messiah!  God claims that HE is the "servant" of Isa. 52:13-53:12 which you will find is a prophecy about Jesus!
"and my servant (the Messiah) whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he"

2.   There never has been, and never will be another God "formed" which by definition means "created"!  "before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me"  This is a direct refutation of the JW's definition of Jesus in John 1:1 as being created "a god!"

3.   Jehovah God himself declares that HE alone is our savior and there is NO other savior but God himself.  "I, even I, am the Lord (Jehovah); and beside me there is no saviour. [12] I have declared, and have saved"

4.   There is no "strange" god. The "secondary god" or "a god" definition that the J.W.'s have made Jesus, is a "strange" god. "there was no strange god among you:"

1 Tim. 3:16        And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

"He now, coming forth into the world, was manifested as God in a body,... This is the God who for our sakes became man, to whom also the Father hath put all things in subjection.  To Him be the glory and the power, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, in the holy Church both now and ever, and even for evermore.  Amen.”  (Hippolytus 235 A.D. Against the Heresy of One Noetus, Sections 17-18)

Thus he indicates in clear terms that He is God, and that His advent was [to take place] in Bethlehem, and from Mount Effrem, which is towards the south of the inheritance, and that [He is] man.  For he says, `His feet shall advance in the plains,' and this is an indication proper to man.   God, then, was made man, and the Lord did Himself save us, giving us the token of the Virgin.”  (Irenaeus 200 A.D.  Against Heresies 3:20:4)

You will note in the following verses, that Jesus is equally shown to be both God and Savior. Throughout the Old Testament, Jehovah God claimed that HE himself, would save us. Before he emptied himself, and became a man, he declared through the prophets that he himself would save us! No one else but Jehovah God would save us. The very idea, that Jesus would be a strange god, another god, a secondary "created - lesser" god, instead of Jehovah God himself, to be our savior, is completely contradictory and damaging to every scripture where God said that HE alone, would save us! Either Jesus is Jehovah God, jointly together with the Father, or he is no god at all!    "I and my Father are one!"  John 10:30 "He that hath seen me hath seen the Father ... I am in the Father and the Father in me!  John 14:9-10

Understanding that both the Father and Son are Jehovah God makes these verses harmonize, while making him a "lower" or "secondary" god does not!

Titus 3:6       Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

Titus 2:13   "expecting the blessed hope and appearance of the glory of the great God and savior of us Jesus Christ.”  (quoted directly form the Greek Interlinear;  the NWT changes this verse for obvious reasons)

Scholars Jamieson, Faussett and Brown write "the great God and our Saviour Jesus--There is but one Greek article to "God" and "Saviour," which shows that both are predicated of one and the same Being.

(You will note that the NWT added a second Greek article, (shown in brackets) before the word “savior" in the NWT, which does not exist in the original Greek text. ie. "and of [the] savior Jesus Christ" NWT). The intended goal of the Watchtower is to seperate the words "the great God" and "our Savior Jesus" as being two seperate persons. Their goal is to nullify the truth of this scripture, that Jesus himself is "the Great God!"

Another scholar, Dr. John Gill writes "and the glorious appearing of the great God, and our Saviour Jesus Christ; not two divine persons, only one, are here intended; for the word: rendered "appearing", is never used of God the Father, only of the second person; and the propositive article is not set before the word "Saviour", as it would, if two distinct persons were designed; and the copulative "and" is exegetical, and may he rendered thus, "and the glorious appearing of the great God, even our Saviour Jesus Christ";

Although the Watchtower may dispute this, there is another consideration that must be taken into account here. While each of the above scriptures in Titus are showing Jesus to be both "Savior" and "God", the climax of this truth is given to us in Titus 2:13! If you were to read Titus 2:13 again, notice that, in context, this verse is speaking of the "appearance of the glory" of Jesus Christ "the great God and savior of us" when he returns! The NWT rendering of separating "the great God" and "savior of us Jesus Christ" by adding the non-existant article [the], would cause this verse to say that God the Father will appear with the Son when Jesus returns. Thus, they have changed the meaning of the verse in its full context. However, reading the scriptures that speak of the appearing of Jesus in his glory always show him returning alone, not together with the Father!

Mar 13:26  And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

This is confirmed by another scholar, Albert Barnes as he writes "Of the great God - There can be little doubt, if any, that by "the great God" here, the apostle referred to the Lord Jesus, for it is not a doctrine of the New Testament that God (the Father) himself as such, or in contradistinction from his incarnate Son, will appear at the last day."

Although the term "God" is applied equally to both the Father, and the Son, (I and the Father are one - John 10:30) when the two are spoken of in scripture and Jesus is given the term "God", the Watchtower, having predetermined that Jesus is NOT "God", must make changes in the word of God by adding, subtracting, or changing words to deny this truth! "Surely, the Apostles did NOT mean that!" is their thinking. "So we MUST "FIX" God's Word to make it fit what we think it should say!" is their conclusion! Of course, when there is NO alternative available, they must then resort to making Jesus a "lesser" God as in John 1:1,   1:18  and   Isa. 9:6. Or, they make the verse into a vain statement of surprise such as John 20:28 where Thomas called Jesus "the God - Jehovah!"

Who's blood purchased us? Acts 20:28

"knowing not what a `treasure in an earthen vessel' we bear, protected as it is by the power of God the Father, and the blood of God the Son, and the dew of the Holy Spirit.”  (Clement of Alexandria 215 A.D. On the Salvation of the Rich Man, Section 34)

Adding words to the scriptures that are NOT in the original text, changes the meaning of the scriptures as I shall illustrate in Acts 20:28. Their false teaching brings to light the following charge by Peter!

2Pe 2:1  But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

I wish for you to take special note of the words which define the false teachers who bring in damnable heresies even denying the Lord that bought them. By claiming that we were bought by the blood of angels, the Watchtower fits the qualification of "false teachers who bring in damnable heresies"!

Acts 20:28 "... the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He PURCHASED WITH HIS OWN BLOOD."

Please note the added word (Son) in the NWT  "......which He purchased with the blood of his own (Son)  Acts 20:28 NWT

The NWT inserted the word "Son", which is NOT in the original Greek Text, to change the scripture to say "which He purchased with the blood of his own (Son) ."  The key question that we must ask is this: "were we bought with the blood of God, or the blood of an angel?" Since the J.W teaching has reduced Jesus from being God, to being a created angel the answer is clear! A correct and proper reading of this scripture is extremely dangerous to their doctrine as it clearly declares that God himself bought us with his own blood, which every reader can quickly realize MUST be Jesus, and identifies Jesus as God himself! Their solution is to add the word "son" into their script which reduces the focal point of the verse from declaring that we were bought with the blood of God himself, to signifying that we were purchased with the blood of an angel, the heretical Jesus that the J.W.'s teach! Thus, the Watchtower fits the prophecy of Peter, that False teachers would bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord God who purchased us by preaching a different Jesus!

2 Cor. 11:4, 13-15
For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. ........For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. [14] And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. [15] Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

It doesn't take a scholar to notice that the addition of one word changes the entire meaning of the scripture. The obvious intent, is to deny that Jesus is God and damage the truth that was spoken in the text here and in Isa. 43, that claims Jehovah God himself saved us "with his own blood!" Not the blood of a "strange" god such as an angel!

Notice the verses that follow Acts 20:28 and how they address the Watchtower teachers who deny that we were bought with the blood of God!

Acts 20:28-30
Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. [29] For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. [30] Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

The word "perverse" is defined as Strong's Greek #1294 diastrepho  dee-as-tref'-o
From G1223 and G4762; to distort, that is, (figuratively) misinterpret, or (morally) corrupt: - perverse (-rt), turn away.

The Watchtower teachers who distort, misinterpret and corrupt God's Word are prophetically defined by Peter and Paul as greivous wolves, ... drawing away disciples after them, ....even denying the Lord that bought them  ....by denying that the Lord God himself purchased us with his own blood!

 JESUS, "THE” GOD

John 20:28-29         And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. [29] Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

The interlinear shows that Thomas said  “The Lord of me and "THE” GOD of me!' (Not "A' god but rather "THE" God).  In the "Dictionary of the New Testament" it says that when the word "THE"  (Gr.- ho") proceeds the word God" (Gr. "Theos") it means "THE supreme Divinity"

The Webster's Dictionary shows that "God" with a capital (G) means "The Supreme being; Jehovah." (If you will see the "NWT", 1984 edition, the word "God" is with a capital "G”)

If Thomas had mistakenly called Jesus Jehovah God here in this verse, Jesus would have corrected him! Contrariwise, instead of correcting him, Jesus commended him for his words saying "Because you have Seen me you have believed. Happy are those who have not seen and yet have believed.."

Doubting Thomas, finally believed and confessed that Jesus is "Jehovah God!" This scripture is directly pointed to every J.W. reading this page. Can YOU believe and confess, as Thomas finally believed, that Jesus is Jehovah God? You are simply that far away from salvation, for, until you can believe and confess that Jesus is Jehovah God, you are still lost and perishing in your sins!

Whereas this verse is a major stumbling block for the Watchtower's doctrine which denies that Jesus could, in fact, be Jehovah God, (since this verse includes the “definite article” - "ho Theos"), they have alternatively used their own philosophy to discredit this verse and declare that Thomas was using God's name in vain saying, in effect, “Oh my God, it's YOU!”

But in further research, I have found that the word case for both words “Lord” and “God” are in the “Vocative” case.

The Webster's Dictionary defines Vocative as:   Vocative  adj. [[ME vocatif < OFr or L: Ofr < L Vocativus < pp. of vocar, to call < vox, voice ]] Gram. Designating, of, or in the case of nouns, pronouns, or adjectives used in direct address to indicate the person or thing addressed   --n.  1. the vocative case: this case is expressed by a change in form in languages such as Latin and by word order and intonation in English (Ex.: Latin “Tite” for “Titus”; English “Bill” in "Bill, don't do that!”)  2. a word or phrase in this case

The Vocative case, is defined as  “used to address the person being addressed”!

So the “vocative” case is clearly identifying that when Thomas "said unto him The Lord of me and THE God of me” that he was using these terms to address Jesus Christ Himself and identified Jesus as “The Lord of me and THE God of me!”  Thomas was, in fact, calling Jesus “Jehovah God”!

John 20:28       And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

I went further to find other verses where the word is "Vocative" to illustrate:
Mark 9:5        And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: ....

The word "Master" is in the vocative case! Peter was addressing Jesus as "Master!"

John 17:1       These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

“Father”, the one whom was being addressed by Jesus, is in the Vocative case!

John 20:15    Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou?

“Woman”, the person whom was being addressed by Jesus, is in the Vocative case!

Thomas was, in FACT, calling Jesus LORD AND "THE GOD"!

I am sure that the Watchtower is fully aware of this truth, but has purposely hidden it from their subjects which produce the Watchtowers wealth, the mighty magazine selling force that buys the 7 cent magazines for 50 cents or more. Jehovah's Witnesses are paying over $67,000,000 annually to the Watchtower as they buy these magazines which they then, in order to be saved, must distribute. Just like the covetous prosperity preachers, the Pope, and Mormon hierarchy, someone in the Watchtower is making a fortune off of the Gospel and living very comfortably!

IS JESUS  “a” god?

1 John 1:1. `That which was from the beginning; which we have seen with our eyes; which we have heard.'….What therefore he says, `from the beginning,' the Presbyter explained to this effect, that the beginning of generation is not separated from the beginning of the Creator.  For when he says, `That which was from the beginning,' he touches upon the generation without beginning of the Son, who is co-existent with the Father.

The Watchtower claims that, because John 1:1 does NOT use the definite article "ho" before the word “God” which would make it "The God", and that the correct rendering of John 1:1 should be “and the word was a god.” In so doing, the Watchtower now declares that there are two Gods, Jesus being a seperate, lesser, god! One thing is very certain, the Anti-Nicene Fathers did NOT understand this scripture in like manner as the Watchtower!

“And the blessed John, in the testimony of his Gospel, gives us an account of this economy (disposition) and acknowledges this Word as God, when he says, `In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.'  If, then, the Word was with God, and was also God, what follows?  Would one say that he speaks of two Gods?  I shall not indeed speak of two Gods, but of one; of two Persons however, and of a third economy (disposition), viz., the grace of the Holy Ghost.  For the Father indeed is One, but there are two Persons, because there is also the Son; and then there is the third, the Holy Spirit….The economy of harmony is led back to one God; for God is One.  It is the Father who commands, and the Son who obeys, and the Holy Spirit who gives understanding:  the Father who is above all, and the Son who is through all, and the Holy Spirit who is in all.  And we cannot otherwise think of one God, but by believing in truth in Father and Son and Holy Spirit….The Father's Word, therefore, knowing the economy (disposition) and the will of the Father, to wit, that the Father seeks to be worshipped in none other way than this, gave this charge to the disciples after He rose from the dead:  `Go ye and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.'  And by this He showed, that whosoever omitted any one of these, failed in glorifying God perfectly.  For it is through this Trinity that the Father is glorified.  For the Father willed, the Son did, the Spirit manifested.  The whole Scriptures, then, proclaim this truth.”  (Hippolytus 235 A.D.  Against the Heresy of One Noetus, Section 14)

For both are one - that is, God.  For He has said, `In the beginning the Word was in God, and the Word was God.'”  (Clement of Alexandria 215 A.D. The Instructor, Book 1, Chapter 8)

John 1:1   Click here to see how many Greek scholars agree with the NWT? Also includes scholars explination of proper Greek grammer which forces the absence of the definite article!

No reputable scholars support the J.W. "a" god theory. Since they sing the praises of the Wescott & Hort text in their introduction, we'll let Dr. B. F. Westcott give his scholarly opinion on this portion of the Greek.

"The predicate (God) stands emphatically first, as in iv. 24. It is necessarily without the article...No idea of inferiority of nature is suggested by the form of expression, which simply affirms the true deity of the Word...In the third clause "the Word" is declared to be 'God" and so included in the unity of the Godhead."

May I ask, WHICH God is Jesus? While the Watchtower claims to be monotheistic (the belief in one God), their doctrine declares them to be polytheistic (the belief in more than one God)! These two gods are "Almighty God", and "Mighty God"; "The God", and "a god"!

In light of their other inconsistencies of scripture, they fail to notice that verses 6, 13, 18 and others also do NOT use the definite article.

John 1:6       There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.  (no definite article)

John 1:13       Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (no definite article)

John 1:18       No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. (no definite article)

John 8:54       Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: (no definite article)   Noun/Nominative case (as in John 1:1)

When a representative of the Watchtower Society wrote me to argue on this issue after reading my web page, he made note that John 1:1 was in the Noun/Nominative case as though that should make a difference! You will note in your NWT, that John 8:54 is not identified as "a" god, but rather "God" even though it too is in the Noun/Nominative case and has no definate article as in John 1:1!

John 8:54      NWT     Jesus answered, If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father that glorifies me; he who YOU say is YOUR God;

Each of these verses, to be consistent with the J.W. interpretation, would of necessity have to be translated also as “a god” as in John 1:1 if they wish to be consistent with Biblical translation! But this is NOT so! They repeat their lower "g" for God when translating John 1:18. Although other translations who use the same "Critical Text" that the NWT uses, give the rightful capital "G" when applied to Jesus, as with the verses noted above that also do not have the definite article (John 1:6, 13, 18, 8:54) the NWT continues to dishonor Jesus and gives him a lower "g"!   You will note that the word "God" is used twice in this verse, and that neither one has a definite article! So how does the Watchtower justify the small "g" and the capital "G" for the same word, having no definite article to justify the difference, except that, since one refers to Jesus, we shall use the lower case "g" as their reasoning!

(ISV)    No one has ever seen God. The unique God, who is close to the Father's side, has revealed him.
(NIV)   No one has ever seen God, but God the only Son, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known
(NWT)  No man has seen God at any time, the only begotton god, who is in the bosom [position] with the Father is the one that has explained him

Returning to John 1:1, I would like to take this one step further. Let's look at the verses of John chapter one again!

John 1:1-12       In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] The same was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. [4] In him was life; and the life was the light of men. [5] And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
[6] There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. [7] The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. [8] He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. [9] That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. [10] He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. [11] He came unto his own, and his own received him not. [12] But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Please note verse 3     All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made

This is confirmed in the 1984 edition of the NWT.

John 1:3 NWT All things came into existance through him, and apart from him not even one thing came into existance

If "ALL THINGS" were made by Jesus and "not any thing was made" without Jesus then, how could God have created Jesus "first"? That would mean that there is an exception to this verse in that Jesus did NOT make something, and that SOMETHING WAS made without Jesus! While the 1984 edition of the NWT shows Jesus as the creator of all things and without him nothing was made in John 1:3, you will find that the same words, when written in Colossians 1:16-17, the NWT adds the non-existent word [other] to imply that Jesus created all things with the exception of himself!

Col. 1:16-17 NWT  because by means of him all [other] things were created .... All [other] things have been created through him and for him 17  Also, he is before all [other] things and by him all [other] things were made to exist.

Not only does the bracketed word [other] not exist in the original Greek text, but the very insertion of the word clearly is meant to change the meaning of the text to force Jesus to be the first created thing, and THEN, he created everything else! I don't know if the NWT changed their text of John 1:3 since the 1984 edition, but that edition still showed John 1:3 to say that Jesus was creator of ALL things, with no exception! Once again, it is clear, that the NWT adds non-existent words to their text to force it to conform to their heresy of doctrine! Remove the non-existent word [other] from the above text, and you will find the glaring truth of what the Apostle Paul actually wrote in his epistle to the Colossians. That truth is, that Jesus always existed and had NO beginning as confirmed by Micah 5:2! He was NOT created, but rather, He is the creator of ALL THINGS without exception!

Which God created the heavens and the earth?

For this is a peculiarity of the pre-eminence of God, not to stand in need of other instruments for the creation of those things which are summoned into existence.  His own Word is both suitable and sufficient for the formation of all things, even as John, the disciple of the Lord, declares regarding Him:  `All things were made by Him, and without Him was nothing made.'  Now, among the `all things' our world must be embraced.  It too, therefore, was made by His Word, as Scripture tells us in the book of Genesis that He made all things connected with our world by His Word.  David also expresses the same truth [when he says] `For He spake, and they were made; He commanded, and they were created.'…Moses…narrated the formation of the world in these words:  `In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth,' and all other things in succession; but neither gods nor angels [had any share in the work].'”  (Irenaeus 200 A.D. Against Heresies 2:2:4-5)

Let's now look at Genesis 1:1      In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Irenaeus above, clearly proclaims that Jesus, "The Word" was the God and creator of Genesis 1:1, and that no instrument of things that were created or summoned into existance such as little "gods" , nor "angels" had any share in the work of creation!

To whom was God speaking when he said:

Genesis 1:26     And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: ....

For with Him were always present the Word and Wisdom, the Son and the Spirit, by whom and in whom, freely and spontaneously, He made all things, to whom also He speaks, saying, `Let Us make man after Our image and likeness….'”  (Irenaeus  Against Heresies 4:20:1)

Since the Watchtower teaches that God the Father created Jesus Christ, and then, through Jesus, ALL [other] things were created, how do they explain this verse of scripture?

Genesis 2:4      These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord (Jehovah) God made the earth and the heavens,

Psalm 148:5     Let them praise the name of the Lord (Jehovah): for he commanded, and they were created.

Who created the heavens and the earth? Jesus or God the Father? In John chapter 1, Jesus is identified as the one who created ALL things without any exceptions! Yet these scriptures clearly identify Jesus, the one who did the creating, as "Jehovah God"!  (also Gen 6:7, Isa 42:5, 43:1, 45:8, 45:12 and 45:18)

The Word was not made in the beginning; there was no time when the beginning was devoid of the Word, and hence it is said, `In the beginning was the Word.'”  (Origen 250 A.D.  Commentary on the Gospel of John 2:13)

Whereas the Watchtower would declare that we were created by 2 Gods, first through the Father who created Jesus, and then through Jesus who made all [other] things, we find that idea is without any question, nullified by Malachi and Isaiah:

Malachi 2:10     .... hath not one God created us? .....

Isaiah 44:24    Thus saith the Lord, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the Lord (Jehovah) that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

Jehovah God declared that there is NO other God, only one God created us, and that He ALONE created all things, by Himself! Notice the correlation between these verses and John 1:1-3 as well as Col. 1:16, showing Jesus as the creator of "ALL things.."

John 1:1-3    In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] The same was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Col. 1:16    For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

Now there are many who are sincerely concerned about religion, and who fall here into great perplexity.  They are afraid that they may be proclaiming two Gods, and their fear drives them into doctrines which are false and wicked….they deny the divinity of the Son, giving Him a separate existence of His own, and making His sphere of essence fall outside that of the Father, so that they are separable from each other. (Origen 250 A.D. Commentary on the Gospel of John 2:2)

Completely true to the words of Origen, the Watchtower, who can not explain the scriptures that call Jesus God, and being afraid they may be proclaiming two Gods, drives them into false and wicked doctrines and deny the divinity of the Son, giving him a separate existance of his own, seperate from the Father, as a created angel called Michael!

Fundamental Christianity declares that this "one God" who created us, are three persons who are jointly called "Jehovah", but the Watchtower declares that there are TWO separate gods, (the Holy Spirit becomes a "force" like "the force be with you" in the movie "Star Wars") one God who existed before the other, and a second god who was created by the first as a "lesser" god, a concept that Isaiah 43:10 denies is possible, "before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me."

Malachi and Isaiah both would call the Watchtower a heretic as well as the early church fathers who preached against the heretics! I truly believe that John chapter 1, which declared Jesus to be God the Word (v1), and God the Son (v18), maker of the heavens and the earth, creator of ALL things and NOT ONE thing created without him (vs 3,10), was summed up by Thomas in chapter 20

John 20:28-29       And Thomas answered and said unto him (Jesus), My Lord and my God (lit. "THE GOD of me"). [29] Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

John 8:24       I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

IN THE  BOSOM OF GOD, THE ARM OF THE LORD

"But I find in Scripture the name Lord also applied to them Both:  `The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit Thou on my right hand.' And Isaiah says this:  `Lord, who hath believed our report, and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?'  Now he would most certainly have said Thine Arm, if he had not wished us to understand that the Father is Lord, and the Son also is Lord.”  (Tertullian 230 A.D. Against Praxeus, Chapter 13)

Jesus was NOT a created angel as the Wachtower claims, but rather, in truth, Jesus is Part of, and is in full equality with the person of God the Father! He is in the bosom of the Father, and He is the Arm of the Lord! Even though Jesus himself clearly declared that God the Father resided inside of his fleshly body, the Watchtower continues to deny that God came in the flesh and dwelt among us!

John 14:10-11
Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. [11] Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

2Co 5:19  ... that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, ....

1 Tim. 3:16        .... God was manifest in the flesh

There is a deeper unity between God the Father and Jesus Christ than the Watchtower wishes to acknowledge! The fact that God himself was dwelling in the very body of Jesus Christ! Those who are not born again by the Holy Spirit, cannot understand the spiritual things of God and that the 3 persons of the godhead, can still be one God!

1 Cor. 2:13-14     Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. [14] But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

The carnal, natural mind of the unsaved Jehovah's Witness, cannot comprehend the depth of the fact that the very human body of Jesus Christ, contained the Godhead, the 3 persons who are called "Jehovah" (the Father, Son and Holy Spirit)! For more on this, see Trinity

Col. 2:9        For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

This truth was amplified in John 1:18 when the scriptures declared that the only way God the Father has ever been revealed to man, is through Jesus Christ the Son!

John 1:18     No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

The "Critical Text" used by the NWT actually declares the Son to be "God the Son"!

John 1:18  NWT  No man has seen God at any time; the only-begotten god who is in the bosom with the Father is the one that has explained him.   (I have left out their added word [position])

The actual text of scripture declares that Jesus is "in the bosom of the Father", not next to, or near. "In" the bosom is similar to  Eve, who came from the bosom of Adam. She was part of Adam, not created by the hands of Adam. She was as much a human being, 100% human being, as Adam! They were both, equally human! The key element here, is that Jesus was "begotten", NOT "created"! He has always existed as "part" of the Father, with full equality as 100% God with the Father (Phil. 2:6), only to humble himself to become a man at a designated juncture in history which we all know!

(WNT)  Although from the beginning He had the nature of God He did not reckon His equality with God a treasure to be tightly grasped. Nay, He stripped Himself of His glory, and took on Him the nature of a bondservant by becoming a man like other men.  Phil 2:6-7

Once again, the question remains, "is Jesus a secondary god"? I would like to know how the J.W.'s can claim to be mono-theistic (belief in one God) when they teach that Jesus is another God? By doctrine, the Watchtower must confess that they are poly-theistic! Are there several gods, in which one God (the Father) created another god (as the Watchtower teaches), who is external from the bosom of the Father and this "other god" is the creator of ALL things? Not only does John 1:3 disqualify the second idea as impossible by declaring that ALL things were created by Jesus Christ himself, and NOTHING was created without Him, but also the following scripture:

Isaiah 43:10,12  .... before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. ... there was no strange god among you...
The answer to their confussion can be clarified in this; Jesus Christ, IS in fact, the “ARM OF THE LORD” which was to be revealed! Although the carnal, unsaved, unspiritual mind of the J.W. might not understand how Jesus could be the "Arm of the Lord" or that he could be "in the bosom of the Father", or that God himself actually "dwelt" in the body of Jesus Christ, the fact remains that he is PART of, not a creation of, the Father!

Psalm 98:1-2     O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory. [2] The Lord hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.

1 Cor. 15:57     But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (His holy arm).

The following scripture, is without any doubt, a prophecy about Jesus Christ and his suffering on the cross. I trust that even the Watchtower confirms this to be true! Yet, Jesus is introduced in the first verse, as the arm of the Lord!

Isaiah 52:10     The Lord hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

Isaiah 53:1-5
Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? [2] For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. [3] He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
[4] Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. [5] But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

This prophecy is repeated, and confirmed to be Jesus Christ himself, in John chapter 12!

John 12:37-41
But though he (Jesus) had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him: [38] That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? [39] Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again, [40] He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them. [41] These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

John goes on to say that Isaiah said these things when he SAW the GLORY of Jesus and spoke about him. When did Isaiah see his glory?

Isaiah 6:1-5
In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord (Jehovah) sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. [2] Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. [3] And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. [4] And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.  [5] Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord (Jehovah) of hosts.

Please note that Isaiah saw "the Lord (Jehovah) sitting upon a throne!"  Take note that Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Rev. 17:14 & 19:16) and yet, Isaiah declares that the KING, which is Jesus, is Jehovah of hosts whom he saw with his very own eyes! If you are still in doubt that Jesus could be this "Jehovah of Hosts", then I might ask, when did ANYONE ever see God the Father?

John 1:18  NWT  No man has seen God at any time; the only-begotten god who is in the bosom with the Father is the one that has explained him.

If "No man has seen God at any time" then WHO did Isaiah SEE? If you cannot come to conclusion that Isaiah saw Jesus, and identified him as Jehovah of Hosts who sat upon the throne in heaven, then you clearly fulfill the following prophecy of Isaiah and repeated by John as he wrote

[39] Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again, [40] He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.   (John 12:39-40)

Until you can see with your eyes that Jesus is Jehovah and bow your knee and confess him to be Jehovah, which is the point of your conversion by which the Lord will then heal you, you shall continue to be lost in your sins and perishing without hope!

In conclusion, Jesus Christ is THE manifestation of "the arm of the Lord" and is "in the bosom of the Father"! Jesus Christ is an extension and the revelation of God HIMSELF! Not another god as the Watchtower claims! Here are some scriptures that declare that Jesus and the Father are ONE!

John 14:9     Jesus saith unto him, ...he that hath seen me hath seen the Father ....

John 14:20      At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, ...

John 10:30      I and my Father are one.

John 14:6      Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

1 John 5:7     For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Until you bow your knee to Jesus, and confess him as Jehovah God, you will NEVER know God the Father and will perish as an "unbeliever!"

 GOD CALLS JESUS “GOD”

Hebrews 1:8-9   But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. [9] Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Psalm 45:6-7   Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre. [7] Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

In an attempt to deny Jesus the claim of being "The God", the NWT reconstructs this scripture to read as follows
"But with reference to the Son: "God is your throne forever and ever...."  NWT

You will note that two early Anti-Nicene church fathers Irenaeus and Tertullian clearly confirms the writing of this scripture to agree with the translations that call Jesus "God", not that "God is the throne of Jesus"! At what point in time do you suggest that the understanding of this verse changed from calling Jesus "God", to making God a "Throne"?

"And this [text following] does declare the same truth:  `Thy throne, O God; is for ever and ever; the sceptre of Thy kingdom is a right sceptre.  Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity:  therefore God, Thy God, hath anointed Thee.'  For the Spirit designates both [of them] by the name, of God - both Him who is anointed as Son, and Him who does anoint, that is, the Father." (Irenaeus 200 A.D.  Against Heresies 3:6:1-2,4;8:1-9:1;15:3)

listen to the psalm in which Two are described as God:  `Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever; the sceptre of Thy kingdom is a sceptre of righteousness.  Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity:  therefore God, even Thy God, hath anointed Thee or made Thee His Christ.'  Now, since He here speaks to God, and affirms that God is anointed by God, He must have affirmed that Two are God,   (Tertullian 230 A.D. - Against Praxeus, Chapter 13)

Scholar comments:

Scholar Adam Clarke writes "This verse is very properly considered a proof, and indeed a strong one, of the Divinity of Christ; but some late versions of the New Testament have endeavored to avoid the evidence of this proof by translating the words thus: God is thy throne for ever and ever; and if this version be correct, it is certain the text can be no proof of the doctrine. Mr. Wakefield vindicates this translation at large in his History of Opinions; and ho Theos, being the nominative case, is supposed to be a sufficient justification of this version. In answer to this  it may be stated that the nominative case is often used for the vocative, particularly by the Attics; and the whole scope of the place requires it should be so used here; and, with due deference to all of a contrary opinion, the original Hebrew cannot be consistently translated any other way, kisaca Elohim olam vaed, Thy throne, O God, is for ever, and to eternity.... I may add that none of the ancient versions has understood it in the way contended for by those who deny the Godhead of Christ, either in the Psalm from which it is taken, or in this place where it is quoted. Aquila translates O God in the vocative case; and the Arabic adds the sign of the vocative ya the same as in our version. And even allowing that ho Theos here is to be used as the nominative case, it will not make the sense contended for, without adding "esti" (Gr. 2076) to it, a reading which is not countenanced by any version, nor by any MS. yet discovered. (Adam Clarke's Commentary on the Bible)

Albert Barnes writes: The "form" here -  ho Theos - is in the vocative case and not the nominative. It is the usual form of the vocative in the Septuagint, and nearly the only form of it - Stuart. This then is a direct address to the Messiah, calling him God; and I see not why it is not to be used in the usual and proper sense of the word. Unitarians proposed to translate this, "God is thy throne;" but how can God be "a throne" of a creature? What is the meaning of such an expression? Where is there one parallel? And what must be the nature of that cause which renders such an argument necessary? (Albert Barnes' Notes on the Bible)

My source shows the word "ho Theos" to be in the vocative case!

Metzger in cooperation with the Institute for the New testament Textual Research. Morphological Tags from the Analytical Greek New testament, version 2 by Timothy and Barbara Friberg)

While there is some dispute over the case of the word, I would like to point out another factor! The Greek word "eis - is", in the original text, is located before the words "forever and ever!" The actual sentence structure of the original Greek text reads (quoted directly word for word from the interlinear)

"as to but the son The throne of you, THE God, is to the ages of the ages..."

There is a perfect harmony with God calling Jesus "God", when you continue to read the scripture text to verses 10-12, which I will cover next in this study. But before we go on, let's look at the paradox the Watchtower has created by their reconstruction of verse 8!

In their attempt to remove Jesus from being "The God", the Watchtower creates a second problem which can be found by anyone who simply reads the text and tries to make sense of what it is saying! By repositioning the word "eis - is", they have forced the verse to say something very different from the intent of the writers and caused it to say that God is a throne "God IS your throne...!" By so doing, they have unwittingly exalted Jesus to being "greater" than God since Jesus will then sit upon God who is His throne "forever and ever!"  By the Watchtower rewording of scripture, we can claim that God is the throne of Jesus, while his enemies are his footstool! (v 13) Foolish reasoning true!? But that is the result of their error in reconstructing this verse from traditional interpretation in order to maintain their heresy! I would like to make 2 additional points about this scripture:

1.  God the Father is speaking this to the Son! You don't think it strange that the Father is calling himself a "throne?" Other than the Watchtowers' perversion of the scripture being quoted in Ps. 45:6-7, where does any other scripture declare that "God is a throne?"

2.  In context with the rest of the scripture verses in Hebrews chapter 1, you will find that the Father is clearly speaking about the Kingdom of His Son, Jesus Christ,  with the angels being commanded to worship Him, "And let all the angels of God worship him" and his scepter of his kingdom being righteousness "a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom" and ending with a comment that He would make the enemies of Jesus, His footstool! No doubt, if Jesus is sitting upon the throne, His feet will rest upon His enemies! In proper context with the rest of the chapter, the proper reading would be that the Father is addressing the Son as God, and continues to describe the throne of the Son and the kingdom of the Son!

Rev. 3:21     To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

"IF" this scripture had said nothing about the Son, the Watchtower would have had NO problem in reading it as Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom "  since they have no trouble believing that Gods' throne and his reign is eternal. But add the words ".. unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God.." and now they have a real problem to deal with which requires reconstruction of God's Word. Wouldn't this be in harmony with another scripture that declares the Son of God to be God?

John 1:18    No one has ever seen God, but God the only Son, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known  (NIV)

As we go on to the next part of this study, in verses 10-12, you will find that there is a perfect harmony in the text as God the Father, having identified the Son to be "O God", now calls Jesus "Jehovah!"

 GOD CALLS JESUS “Jehovah ”

Hebrews 1:5-13
For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? [6] And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. [7] And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. [8] But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. [9] Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. [10] And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: [11] They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment; [12] And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail. [13] But to which of the angels said he at any times, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?

While the Watchtower did their best to remove Jesus from being God in verse 8, which makes perfect sense and harmonizes with verses 10-12 when quoted correctly, they had another problem to work out in the same context of scripture, that of verse 10. God the Father called Jesus, "Jehovah!" While they translate the Greek word "Kurios" to be translated as "Jehovah" in every scripture that relates to God, they again, since this verse is speaking of the Son, must translate Kurios as "Lord" instead of "Jehovah" in order to hide the true identity of Jesus Christ from their followers!

NWT      And "You at [the] beginning, O Lord, laid the foundations of the earth itself, and the heavens are the works of your hands..."  (Heb. 1:10)

This scripture is a direct quote from Ps. 102, where  the Greek Septuagint uses the word "Kurios" and is clearly rendered "Jehovah" by the Watchtower translators in the NWT! The NWT itself has a footnote that this verse in Hebrews 1:10 is quoted from Ps. 102! It is very interesting how the scripture in Ps. 102 identifies the one who is being addressed, as "Jehovah" and then changes from "Jehovah" to simply "Lord" when the same scripture addresses Jesus in Hebrews 1:10! An obviously clear attempt by the Watchtower to hide the identity of Jesus Christ!

Psalm 102:1, 24-27   NWT
[1]  O Jehovah, do hear my prayer.... [24]... O my God, ....  [25] Long ago you laid the foundations of the earth itself, And the heavens are the work of your hands [26] They themselves will perish, but you yourself will keep standing, And just like a garment they will all of them wear out. Just like clothing you will replace them, and they will finish their turn. [27] But you are the same, and your own years will not be completed.

Heb. 1:8, 10-12  NWT
[8] But with reference to the Son... [10] You at [the] beginning, O Lord, laid the foundations of the earth itself, and the heavens are the works of your hands [11] They themselves will perish, but you  yourself are to remain continually; and just like an outer garment they will all grow old, [12] and you will wrap them up just as a cloak, as an outer garment: and they will be changed, but you are the same, and your years will never run out.

Should the Watchtower wish to remain consistent with their translation of scriptures, it would be appropriate to translate Hebrews 1:10 to read "Jehovah" which would place them in the predicament of having to explain to their followers why the scripture calls Jesus "Jehovah" and furthermore allows the translation "Thy throne, O God..." in 1:8 to be an acceptable translation! But rather than remain consistent with correct Bible translation, they have adjusted God's word to meet their doctrine, rather than forming their doctrine based on consistent and correct Bible translation!

A similar blunder of consistency in Bible translation by the Watchtower applies in Romans chapter 10

Romans 10:9, 13  NWT
[9]   For if you publicly declare that 'word in your own mouth,' that Jesus is Lord (Gr. Kurios) .... you will be saved!
[13]   For "everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah (Gr. Kurios) will be saved"

So then, which name must you call upon in which to be saved? Jesus or Jehovah? Acts 4:10-12 should answer that question! While the word for "Lord" and "Jehovah" are both the exact same Greek word "Kurios", it doesn't take a scholar to note that Romans 10:13 is referring to the same person noted in verse 9! To remain consistent with their interpretations of interpreting "Kurios" to mean Jehovah, verse 9 should read "For if you publicly declare that 'word in your own mouth,' that Jesus is Jehovah .... you will be saved!" This is the very thing that no J.W. will do and certifies that every J.W. has yet to be "saved" which can only be accomplished by bowing their knee to Jesus and confessing him to be "Jehovah" (see also Phil 2:10-11 where the word "Lord" again is Kurios, meaning "Jehovah")

Only God  knows our thoughts!

Does Jesus know the hearts and thoughts of all men? Yes!

Psalm 139:1-2           O Lord (Jehovah), thou hast searched me, and known me. [2] Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

Jeremiah 17:10       I the Lord (Jehovah) search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

Rev. 2:18-23        And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, .... I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

Matthew 9:4        And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?

Matthew 12:25        And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

Luke 6:8        But he (Jesus) knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.

John 2:24-25       But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, [25] And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

 Almighty God

And as for the Father's names, God Almighty, the Most High, the Lord of hosts, the King of Israel, the `One that is,' we say (for so much do the Scriptures teach us) that they belonged suitably to the Son also, and that the Son came under these designations, and has always acted in them, and has thus manifested them in Himself to men.  `All things,' says He, `which the Father hath are mine.'  Then why not His names also?  When, therefore, you read of Almighty God, and the Most High, and the God of hosts, and the King of Israel, the `One that is,' consider whether the Son also be not indicated by these designations, who in His own right is God Almighty, in that He is the Word of Almighty God, and has received power over all; is the Most High, in that He is `exalted at the right hand of God,' as Peter declares in the Acts; is the Lord of hosts, because all things are by the Father made subject to Him; is the King of Israel because to Him has especially been committed the destiny of that nation; and is likewise `the One that is,' because there are many who are called Sons, but are not….even the Son of the Almighty is as much almighty as the Son of God is God.”  (Tertullian 230 A.D  Against Praxeus, Chapter 17)

Let us look next at the apostle's word:  `Whose are the fathers, of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever.'  This word declares the mystery of the truth rightly and clearly.  He who is over all is God; for thus He speaks boldly, `All things are delivered unto me of my Father.'  He who is over all, God blessed, has been born; and having been made man, He is (yet) God for ever.  For to this effect John also has said, `Which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.'  And well has he named Christ the Almighty.”  (Hyppolitus 235 A.D. Against the Heresy of One Noetus, Section 6)

One of the key arguments that the J.W. group has used to deny Jesus the position of being "The" God even though Isaiah 9:6 clearly declares that the child that is to be born would be God himself, is the technicality of the word "Mighty" God. I wonder what their argument would have been should the verse have said simply "The God"! But the insertion of the Hebrew word "gibbor" which means "Mighty", has given them reason to make Jesus a "lesser" God than "God Almighty!"

Isaiah 9:6      For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

We will bypass the "everlasting Father" which would be another argument, since only God Almighty can claim this name, and stay with the term "Mighty God"! You will note in the following passages, that the term "Mighty God" ONLY applies to Jehovah God in the other 2 times that the term is ever used in scripture!

Isaiah 10:20-23       ... the Lord (Jehovah), the Holy One of Israel, in truth. [21] The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the Mighty God. ... [23] For the Lord (Jehovah) God of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.

Jeremiah 32:18       Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the Lord (Jehovah) of hosts, is his name,

(Side Note: the NWT translates "EL Gibbor" as "Mighty God" in Isa. 9:6 and 10:21 but translates it as "mighty One" in Jer. 32:18!)

How it is possible that the words "Mighty God" - Hebrew "EL Gibbor" applies to Jehovah God in EVERY other scripture where it appears and yet, when it is applied to Jesus in Isaiah 9:6, it is no longer Jehovah God? This error demands an explanation! Once again, J.W. definitions have a different value of meaning when words are applied to Jehovah God than when the same word is applied to Jesus Christ!

I will go on with the term "Almighty God"! Every J.W. is taught the scripture in John 1:18! By their line of reason, if no one has ever seen God, then Jesus could not be God!

John 1:18    No one has ever seen God, but God the only Son, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known  (NIV)

Here in John, it is made evident that NO one has ever seen God! You will find in my study "Seeing God" listing 10 scriptures where God appeared to men physically, that in every occurrence where God appeared to man in the Old Testament, that it could be none other than Jesus Christ Himself, "he has made him known" . This is called a "Theophany" by Bible scholars! The following verses declare that "Almighty God" appeared to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob!

Genesis 17:1        And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

Genesis 35:9-11        And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padan-aram, and blessed him. [10] And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel. [11] And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins;

Exodus 6:3       And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name Jehovah was I not known to them.

Since God the Father has never been seen by any man, it is clearly shown that Jesus Christ, when he appeared to men, claimed to be "Almighty God!"

John 12:45    He who sees Me SEES Him who sent Me.

John 6:46       Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.

John 14:9-11       Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? [10] Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. [11] Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

Alpha and Omega - First and the Last

Finally, Jesus himself claimed to be the Almighty!

Rev. 1:8, 10-13       I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord (Jehovah), which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, [11] Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: ....    And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; [13] And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

Rev. 1:17-18        And when I saw him (Jesus), I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: [18] I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Rev. 2:8        And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;

These words spoken by Jesus in Revelation, were spoken by Jehovah God to identify himself in:
Isaiah 44:6     Thus saith the Lord (Jehovah) the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

Jesus claims to be the First and the Last in Rev. 1:17 and 2:8. Jehovah claims to be the First and the Last in Isaiah 44:6.

Rev. 21:6-7      And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. (In John 4:14, Jesus is the giver of this living water)
He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Rev. 22:12-13,16
And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. … I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify…

Notice the First, and the Last verses of the entire Bible:

The Alpha, beginning, the first verse in the Bible…   In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Genesis 1:1

The Omega, the end, the last verse of the Bible…   The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.  Rev. 22:21
John 14:9   Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

Jesus is NOT the Father, but you can NEVER see the Father, until you have seen Jesus! Because ONLY Jesus can reveal the Father to you through His shed blood on Calvary!

Matthew 11:27      All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

John 14:23     Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

The only way to know the Father, is to know the Son who has "made him known!" The only way to worship and love the Father, is through the Son, the manifestation of the arm of the God!
John 14:6     Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

For he who comes down in faith to the laver of regeneration, and renounces the devil, and joins himself to Christ; who denies the enemy, and makes the confession that Christ is God; who puts off the bondage, and puts on the  adoption - he comes up from the baptism brilliant as the sun, flashing forth the beams of righteousness, and, which is indeed the chief thing, he returns a son of God and joint-heir with Christ.”  (HIPPOLYTUS 235 A.D. Discourse on the Holy Theophany, Section 10)
